WE ARE TURNING OUR HOTELS IN MADRID INTO MEDICAL FACILITIES
Our hotels in the Community of Madrid have always been known for their collaboration with the most vulnerable groups through solidarity and sports initiatives. Given that the current situation is not only affecting the Community of Madrid, one of the most affected by COVID-19, but also the whole of Spain and the world, we could not act otherwise and wanted to do our bit in the fight against the pandemic.
Hotel ILUNION Atrium is turning its spaces into medical facilities, and offering its facilities to the Ramón y Cajal Hospital to house patients in the recovery phase, who must stay under a watchful eye so as not to infect their families, or because they do not have the necessary care at home. Furthermore, the hotel has wanted to help several nursing homes by providing 15 beds and thus facilitate their tireless work.
Hotel ILUNION Suites Madrid is offering Quirónsalud’s healthcare workers from other autonomous communities its spaces and more than 100 rooms to ensure they can rest and travel more easily.
We are currently in talks with the Health Ministry in Madrid to turn two more of our hotels in the capital into medical facilities. Hotel ILUNION Alcalá Norte was made available to the University of Navarra Clinic, HM Hospitales and La Milagrosa Clinic, as well as Hotel ILUNION PIOXII for its possible incorporation into the programme to provide service to the Clinical Hospital.
Our Foodie Box, responsible for supplying food to the ILUNION headquarters, is making available 9 food carts for nursing homes, thus favouring a high-risk group: our elderly. Likewise, ILUNION Hotels has offered 450 beds from all its hotels in Madrid to the Quirón Group.
NOW IS THE TIME FOR SOLIDARITY
We cannot overlook all those who work with us on a daily basis and have also wanted to pitch in during these difficult times. Our supplier Supra café, which has been investing in social development programmes for the women of Cauca (Colombia) for more than 30 years and is recognised by the United Nations, is collaborating with us by sending Hotel ILUNION Atrium 50kg of free coffee. In the same way that AURA, a social enterprise that sells mineral water and allocates 100% of its dividends to generating drinking water in developing countries, is dedicating all its efforts to donating bottled water to hospitals that are overwhelmed by the high numbers of coronavirus patients.
With these collaborations, we are taking an additional step in our social work by working hand in hand with the health authorities. These days are calling for solidarity and teamwork, and together we will make it possible.
