Alliance with UNAV: ILUNION Hotels and UNAV collaborate on sustainability, accessibility, and inclusive design projects with a positive social and environmental impact

Joint Commitment to Sustainability and Accessibility

March 2, 2023

The agreement seeks to generate value and a positive social impact on society.

The School of Architecture at the University of Navarra and ILUNION Hotels—a hotel chain known for its inclusive model and for being 100% accessible to all types of disabilities—have just signed a collaboration agreement.
This alliance aims to establish and articulate a general framework for collaboration between the parties, in order to develop projects and actions linked to a common purpose and generate a positive social impact on both the planet and people.

José Ángel Preciados, CEO of ILUNION Hotels, understands that “university-business collaboration, and specifically this alliance with the School of Architecture at UNAV, means creating an ecosystem of learning and mutual collaboration to address the current commitments and challenges faced by companies.

Circularity and Inclusive Design Projects to Promote Sustainability Through Architecture

The agreement, intended to be long-term, was first materialized in 2022 with a circularity project developed by students of this degree. This project provides recycling solutions for hotels and also serves as a tool to raise awareness and educate clients and other stakeholders about the importance of recycling and circularity—topics that ILUNION Hotels places great emphasis on. In 2023, the upcoming project will focus on inclusive design.

Additionally, students of this degree had the opportunity to visit one of the company’s hotel establishments, ILUNION Atrium, where they experienced one of its “blind breakfasts,” allowing them to firsthand understand the sensations and situations faced daily by blind individuals.
Ultimately, the company and the university aim, through this agreement, to promote initiatives focused on sustainability, understood as a comprehensive concept and as the result of incorporating social and environmental concerns into business strategy and management.
