Carlos Bello presents ILUNION Hotels’ InnovACCIÓN model at the Sustainability Forum of IE University and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation

February 3, 2025

Carlos Bello, Director of Innovation at ILUNION Hotels, took part in the Sustainability and Youth Engagement: From Learning to Action forum, organized by the IE Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation at IE Tower in Madrid. During the event, Bello presented the InnovACCIÓN model, a strategy that embeds innovation within ESG criteria to ensure both economic and social sustainability.

In the panel titled «Sustainability in the Future Professions», Carlos Bello shared the stage with João Botelho (ESG and energy regulation expert at Pérez-Llorca), Mar Fernández (marine researcher and co-founder & CEO of MacroCarbon), María Eugenia Renaldi (Head of Education at LinkedIn Spain & Portugal), and Belén Santa Cruz (Head of Institutional Relations at Moeve). The discussion was moderated by Concepción Galdón, Vice Dean and Director of the Center for Social Innovation and Sustainability at IE Business School. During the panel, Bello highlighted how ILUNION Hotels integrates digitalization and sustainability to drive positive impact through its unique innovation model.

“Digitalization must promote sustainable solutions and not be pursued as an end in itself.”, he emphasized.

He also highlighted how technology is a key tool in developing projects aligned with the company’s sustainability goals and social commitment.

During his presentation, Bello stressed the importance of a human-centered innovation model: “Employees must play an active role in the organization’s purpose—participating in its creation and understanding how their work contributes to building a more inclusive world”. At ILUNION Hotels, this philosophy takes shape in a system where all employees—whether or not they are in vulnerable situations or have disabilities—identify needs and propose solutions. In doing so, all stakeholders become part of the company’s strategy.

The forum brought together international experts and leading professionals in sustainability, energy regulation, and ESG, along with young leaders committed to business transformation. ILUNION Hotels’ participation in this event reinforced its role as a benchmark in purpose-driven innovation, consolidating its business model as a balance between economic profitability and social and environmental responsibility.
