New accessible room
On the 15th of October, we presented our new accessible room design, which includes technical and technological solutions to improve the assistance we provide to people with disabilities. The event took place at our Hotel ILUNION Atrium (Madrid), as part of the Summit Meeting organised by the Excellence in Management Club, which brings together the top executives from the club’s partner organisations.
One of the participants at the event was Secretary of State for Tourism, Isabel Oliver, who was welcomed by the Chairman of ILUNION and of the Excellence in Management Club, Alberto Durán. Oliver highlighted the importance of providing accessible rooms and the work we do in this area: “Accessibility is very important for us because everyone has the right to enjoy accessible tourism”, and she noted that “not all tourist establishments are in any way as accessible as this one”. Our Managing Director, José Ángel Preciado, emphasised that the “room represents a step forward, because everyone knows that our organization is fully committed to disability, but we want to address more of the needs that our customers with disabilities may have”.

Our accessible room adapts to the needs of people with disabilities, focusing also on comfort and design. Developed by our Accessibility department, this space is equipped with “design for all” furnishings, as well as with technical and technological solutions so that people with disabilities can enjoy a comfortable stay with us. The accessible room comes with motorised, adjustable beds, automatic door with proximity key, accessible handles, adapted wardrobe with pull-down rods, borders around bedside tables, motorized curtains, ceiling devices for assistance getting into bed, smart TV with voice activation and robust lighting, and a luminous acoustic beacon with differentiated warning device, among others.
The toilet in the room has also been completely refurbished to include technical and technological solutions such as an automatic door with proximity sensors, an accessible toilet with double transfer and adjustable folding bars, wide shower chair, shower hose with mixer tap, motorized shower screen, emergency button connected to hotel reception, fall detector, and full-body dryer, among other things.
