After a full year in operation, Campus Mijas—ILUNION Hotels’ training proposal—concludes its first course with great success and growing demand. Located at the ILUNION Hacienda de Mijas hotel, the campus’s setting in a holiday environment has proven to be one of the key strengths and most attractive aspects of this unique initiative, which focuses on language immersion.
The idea is truly innovative in the tourism sector—not only for transforming part of a hotel into a training campus, but also because this hotel is a Special Employment Centre (CEE), where over 70% of the staff have some form of disability. “The People department at ILUNION Hotels, in collaboration with the Operations division, launched a training project tied to innovation and to improving our value proposition,” explains José Ángel Preciados, CEO of ILUNION Hotels. He adds: “Training is essential for enhancing our working environment, the employee experience, and overall stakeholder satisfaction.”

Mar Almagro, Director of ILUNION Hotels’ Southern Zone, highlights: “At Campus Mijas, our mission is to develop the organisation’s internal talent, but the aim is for the project to reach beyond our own people to other companies as well.”
Over the past months, Campus Mijas has welcomed 700 students who, during their immersion, had the chance to explore not only the hotel but also nearby towns like Benalmádena and Fuengirola. Among the initiative’s key strengths, students appreciate the chance to learn English in a privileged setting and meet new colleagues from different regions of Spain. “People are embracing this idea wonderfully, and their feedback has been very positive, which is driving much higher demand for next year,” concludes Almagro.
