An Innovative Way to Communicate Data Protection

October 7, 2024

Once again, the company seeks to inspire and go beyond expectations to transform the hospitality and tourism sector—this time, by democratizing and making accessible information that, until now, was often accepted without being read or understood.

“I have read and accept”. Every day, millions of users give their consent for the processing of their personal data, often without fully reviewing the information. To change this reality and uphold the safety and protection of its guests’ and users’ data, ILUNION Hotels launches Info Save, an audiovisual project designed to enhance transparency in the management of customers’ personal information in a disruptive and more accessible way than ever before.

In partnership with ILUNION’s legal department and CECA MAGÁN Abogados, the company’s legal consultants, ILUNION Hotels has always kept its privacy policies up to date to meet current regulations. But now, it’s going one step further: it aims to communicate these policies in a more engaging way, through the creation of dynamic, easy-to-understand video content that explains how users’ personal data is handled—clearly and effectively.

Four devices (laptop, monitor, tablet and mobile) display a blue screen with the text “INTRODUCING INFO SAVE By Ilunion Hotels” and a fingerprint logo.
A man in a blue suit and tie points forward with both hands; the text “INTRODUCING INFO SAVE By Ilunion Hotels” appears.

Info Save by ILUNION HOTELS consists of three short audiovisual capsules, easily recognizable thanks to the fingerprint—the icon chosen to personalize this campaign—in which the hotel chain introduces its data protection principles, explains the uses and purposes of the information collected, and clarifies how it is handled and protected in the event of potential transfers to third parties. Additionally, from the ILUNION Hotels website, users can access an infographic guide that visually and clearly outlines the key aspects of the data protection policy. These videos will also begin to be shown gradually on the screens across ILUNION Hotels.

With Info Save by ILUNION Hotels, the company continues its commitment to innovation and accessibility, ensuring that all its customers understand how their information is protected at every stage of their interaction with the hotel chain. Likewise, ILUNION Hotels’ Data Protection Committee is available to answer any questions guests may have regarding the management of their personal information.

The launch of Info Save by ILUNION Hotels is not only an innovation in communicating privacy policies—it also strengthens accessibility and proactive compliance with regulations. “ILUNION Hotels goes one step further, recognizing that to exercise rights related to the protection of personal data, it is essential to use clear, accessible, and easily understandable language for everyone,” José Luis Barceló says, Director of Legal Counsel and Regulatory Compliance at ILUNION Hotels.

The company brings its own vision to Article 12.7 of the GDPR, which encourages the use of icons to facilitate the understanding of data, choosing an approach that ensures all relevant information is communicated clearly and simply. ILUNION Hotels thus aligns itself with the Digital Europe Programme—through which the European Union aims to bring digital technology closer to businesses, citizens, and public administrations—and embraces its core values of transparency, inclusivity, and data protection.

José Ángel Preciados, CEO of ILUNION Hotels, says: “The company takes the principles of this Directive, applicable to the public sector starting in 2025, and also incorporates them into its soft law, hoping not only to comply with the regulations but also to inspire other stakeholders in the hotel industry to adopt more transparent and accessible practices in communicating data management.”
