A Purposeful Christmas: Social and Environmental Commitment at ILUNION Hotels


Last Christmas, ILUNION Hotels took another step forward in its commitment to sustainability and inclusion, transforming its establishments into spaces where celebrating also meant contributing to positive change. Under the slogan “A Purposeful Christmas”, guests were invited to actively participate in an initiative with real social and environmental impact.

The campaign was carried out in a blended format, combining in-person experiences at the hotels with a strong presence on social media. The heart of the initiative was the Purposeful Christmas Forest, a collaborative project in partnership with Treedom, a platform that promotes responsible agroforestry tree planting. Guests became “guardian caretakers” of this forest, understanding that their stay at ILUNION Hotels not only offered rest, but also the opportunity to be part of a cause that goes beyond the individual.

Treedom and ILUNION: Planting the Future from the Present


The forest created in collaboration with Treedom is one of two maintained by ILUNION Hotels as part of its sustainability strategy. This partnership not only aims to offset emissions, but also to generate employment in vulnerable communities, carefully selecting each plant species according to the environment and ecological purpose. It’s a long-term commitment — a vision for tourism that leaves a positive footprint.

Ana López de San Román, Sustainability Director at ILUNION Hotels, sums it up clearly: “The main goal of this initiative was for our guests to understand and become aware of our purpose, and to realize that when they stay at one of our hotels, they are supporting that purpose and helping make it possible.”
