The Association of Spanish Sports (ADESP) has presented us with the special distinction recognizing us as the first major hotel chain to join the Sporttoury project, the seal of guarantee for Sports Tourism in Spain. All of our hotels carry the Sporttoury seal, guaranteeing our guests that they can enjoy stays at centers specializing in sports tourism, featuring certified facilities and an environment where sports and a healthy lifestyle are fundamental cornerstones.
“We are extraordinarily proud that a chain like ILUNION Hotels has welcomed our Sporttoury initiative with open arms,” said José Hidalgo, President of ADESP and President of the Spanish Triathlon Federation. “ILUNION Hotels recognized from the very beginning the connection between tourism and sports, and the importance of this factor when it comes to building customer loyalty. On top of that, they add their commitment to sustainability and integration—values that are undoubtedly part of the identity of ADESP and Spanish sports,” he noted.
“ILUNION Hotels is a unique company in the world because, after the crisis that almost made us disappear, it has allowed us to think about a different concept of business model based on values, commitment, integration, and social responsibility,” explained our General Manager, José Ángel Preciados. “We are the only company in the world where 40% of the workforce consists of people with disabilities, and all of our hotels are certified in universal accessibility… And now, we have decided that Sporttoury fits perfectly into our model, because we were missing a complementary pillar: sports. That is why we are delighted to be the first company to seize this opportunity, not just for a single hotel, but for the entire chain. We already have all of our hotels audited,” he pointed out.
“This alliance with ILUNION Hotels allows us to position ourselves even better in the Spanish hotel market, alongside leading brands that already collaborate with us and firmly support our project,” explained the CEO of Sporttoury, Antonio José García.
The Association of Spanish Sports (ADESP), which unites all national sports federations, launched Sporttoury as a quality mark for Sports Tourism. It audits tourist accommodations and destinations based on their specialization in this market segment, cataloging facilities, services, and the experiences of organizations and users connected to physical activity and sports within a specific region.
