‘Gracias a Ti’ Solidarity Project

January 29, 2018

Throughout 2017, workers from ONCE Foundation and ILUNION Hotels participated in the ‘Gracias a Ti’ charitable payroll program, a initiative designed to support the work of three social organizations chosen by the employees themselves: the Spanish Federation of Parents of CHILDREN WITH CANCER, the Josep Carreras Foundation, and the REMAR Association.

Representatives from all three organizations gathered this Monday at the ILUNION Atrium Hotel in Madrid for the closing ceremony of the first edition of the ‘Gracias a Ti’ program. This year, 799 employees from ONCE Foundation—along with its partner organizations Inserta Empleo, Bequal Foundation, and Feacem—and ILUNION Hotels took part in the initiative.

Their collective charitable contributions totaled 34,931 euros, an amount matched by the companies themselves, doubling the total figure to nearly 70,000 euros (69,862 euros).

The presentation ceremony was attended by Alberto Durán, Executive Vice President of ONCE Foundation and Chairman of ILUNION; Alejandro Oñoro, CEO of ILUNION and Chairman of ILUNION Hotels; José Luis Martínez Donoso, Managing Director of ONCE Foundation; and José Manuel González Huesa, Managing Director of Servimedia.

Attending on behalf of the selected organizations were Francisco Palazón Espinosa, President of the Spanish Federation of Parents of CHILDREN WITH CANCER; Antoni García Prat, General Manager of the Josep Carreras Foundation; and José Jesús García Porcel, Legal Representative of the REMAR Association.

Payroll Round-Up

‘Gracias a Ti’ is a program born from the desire of ONCE Foundation and ILUNION Hotels employees to collaborate with social organizations operating outside the field of disability. The initiative materialized as an opportunity to fund a social project selected by employees through voluntary payroll rounding up.

Out of 20 proposed social organizations, employees selected as top choice the Spanish Federation of Parents of CHILDREN WITH CANCER, which received 50% of the funding; the Josep Carreras Foundation, beneficiary of 30%; and the REMAR Association, recipient of the remaining 20%.

In 2017, the program launched across ONCE Foundation and several of its partner entities, including Inserta Empleo, Bequal Foundation, and Feacem, alongside ILUNION Group’s hotel chain, ILUNION Hotels.

For 2018, the initiative was expanded to include employees from ILUNION’s corporate headquarters as well as ILUNION Retail.
